New jobs, new lifestyles, and new circumstances can sometimes force homeowners out of their homes and into selling them quickly, and often these homeowners have little or no time to think about sprucing up their home a bit to sell it. Unfortunately, if a seller does not take care of these five details before putting their home in the market, buyers are more likely to hit the ground running before they've even reached the front steps. Word to the wise: if you DO have the time and resources to complete these tasks before you put your home on the market, it will pay off!

3. Brass fixtures - Let's face it; brass fixtures just look dated, and homeowners who have lived in older homes for several years simply do not know this. Not to worry though, because changing out brass chandeliers or switch plates is easy as DIY. You could even prime and paint your fixtures a neutral, matte shade to tie it into the rest of the room effortlessly and elegantly.
2. Vanity strips - Nothing ages a bathroom quite like a vanity strip. When I see a vanity strip, I picture Marilyn Monroe sitting in front of a makeup mirror waiting to go out on a photo shoot… except they aren't quite so glamorous when they're in your home. To fix this problem, simply remove the vanity strip and invest in a couple of inexpensive wall sconces to mount on either side of the mirror to bring light to your bathroom.
1. Outlandish wall paint - Your personal style is unique and beautiful - to YOU. When a buyer comes into a home, they want to see neutral, flattering tones on the walls and less of aquamarine, your daughter's favorite color. Painting the rooms in your home to suit the tastes of all buyers might just be THE most cost effective way to spruce up your home with the greatest pay off. Invest in few gallons of neutral toned paint and give your rooms a mature makeover.
